Hawaii Part 9 – Hiking Diamond Head

The next morning Sarah and I were up a little on the early side, as we had two big adventures planned for the day and wanted to make sure that we had allowed ourselves ample time to have fun. The first stop of the day was Diamond Head State Park. Even though we checked out of our hotel early and made it to the park in good time, there was still a very long line just to get in to the parking lot. I believe we waited about 30 minutes for a parking spot to open up and for us to finally start on our awesome trek.

On a good day the hike is supposed to take anywhere from 1.5 – 2 hours, however, due to our luck with the hit and miss weather and some very out-of-shape people we met along the way, we had to tack on an extra hour. Now by no means am I complaining though, as the extra time spent there was great and really gave us the chance to soak in the view, the history as well as relax.

The hike was great and was most certainly a work out, especially the stairs! (Click here to check out the park-map.) It was well worth it though, and we got a cool t-shirt. Haha!

As mentioned above, the weather was hit or miss, so I didn’t have my camera out that long. I really regret not picking up some all-weather covers or a water-housing for this trip, but, oh well. The next trip I will go all out with my gear.

Anyway, on to the pictures! Enjoy ‘em!
