Hawaii Part 13B – Hale Koa Luau

Here is the second part of the Luau post from the Hale Koa. I’ve only included the pictures, as it didn’t dawn on me until I went to work on the videos, that I’m without a video editing program at the moment. I’ll try to correct that soon though.

I took the pictures from our table, so they’re not the best, but still fun to include.

Hawaii Part 13A – Hale Koa Luau

After our expedition and sight seeing around the Aloha Tower Market Place we set off back home to Fort Shafter to relax and get cleaned up before heading back to Waikiki. Although we did relax during our time in Hawaii, we did often seem to always be on the move. Haha! Our destination this time would be the Hale Koa to experience our first luau.

I’m not too sure how to explain the luau, but can say that it was highly entertaining and is something that I definitely recommend checking out. The food was exceptional, though nothing beats fresh pulled pork. However, poi is not something I would suggest trying. It’s a very interesting dish, to put it lightly.

Anyway, here is the first part of this series. I’m dividing it up in to two separate posts due to the amount of pictures and video I am including. This part more so highlights the random pictures I took while we were waiting to access the luau gardens, as well as some of the beginning of the overall luau experience.

Hawaii Part 12 – Aloha Tower Market Place

After Sarah and I’s visit to Pearl Harbor, the weather actually cleared up for the time being so we decided to grab something to eat. We met up with Sarah’s parents and set off towards Waikiki. Going off of a recommendation from a patient of Sarah’s we stopped at the Aloha Towers Marketplace to eat at Gordon Biersch Brewery. Although the restaurant is albeit a little on the touristy side, the food and beer (it’s a micro-brewery) were quite good. If you have the time to kill I would recommend trying it, if not for the food, then definitely the view of the harbor and beer. The sunsets, as you’ll see in a later blog post, are pretty amazing from this locations.

After finishing our meals, we checked out the views from the tower and those around the harbor.

I’ve Converted To The iPhone

Ever since the first release of the Apple iPhone I had sworn that I would die well before I would ever buy one. In my mind, the iPhone was an over-glorified iPod and nothing more. Fast-forward to the present and my mindset has changed, big time. Fed up with the rapid decline of RIM and their failure to make a BlackBerry worth having as well as Sprints ability to offer the iPhone, I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to pick one up. So, during the last week of December I ate my words, walked in to the Sprint store, and purchased an iPhone 4s.

Here is a rather large group of pictures that I took using the Instagram and Hipstamatic App’s. The pictures are quite random, but they do showcase that in the off chance that I don’t have a DSLR with me, or just opt not to carry one, that I can still yield snapshot worthy pics from a cellphone.

Holeshot Magazine Tear Sheet… Finally

Last year, I covered the San Antonio Arenacross race for Holeshot Magazine. I posted a few pictures from the race, as well as a picture from the Moose Racing catalog, but never managed to get my hands on the content that actually ran in the magazine. Today that changed and I was able to get a simi-decent look at the content that ran in the magazine last year.

Anyway, just felt like I’d share.

Kyle’s 5.0

All the way back in October, a few days before Halloween, I met up with Kyle to take pictures of his beautiful 5.0. Fast forward to the present, December 1st, and I’m just now managing to secure enough free time to get around to posting a handful of the shots that I took. This series will be broken up in to two parts, the first will be Kyle’s car and the second part will contain pictures of Anthony’s Mustang, as well as the group shots.

Although I have secured some free time, I still need a little more to finish editing the second series pictures and thus the reason for dividing the series in two.

Anyway, enough of my useless banter and on to the pictures.

Car’s & Coffee October 2011

It’s the last Saturday of the month which means that today was another gathering for the Car’s & Coffee meet here in San Antonio. This time Sarah and I, after learning from our somewhat late-ish arrival last month, to get to 1604 and Blanco a little early this time around. Getting to the the shopping center early actually proved to be a rather good move on our part, as we were able to enjoy the great turn out of all the cars. The event this weekend was by far one of the largest showings that I’ve witnessed.

I didn’t take too many pictures, as I spent a lot of time talking with a few friends and trying to stay warm. I’m sure that by looking at the pictures, and if you’re a frequent reader of my blog, that you can tell most of my friends drive Mustangs.

Anyway, on to the pictures.

It’s Teaser Time! Kyle’s Black 5.0 & The Funeral

It’s been awhile since I’ve had a shoot with some Mustangs, a week shy of a year to be exact. At least at the time of this particular shoot that was the case. Needless to say, I was more than due for a Mustang related session and that’s definitely what I got. Anyway, enough with the babble here are a few teasers pictures from a shoot that I had last Sunday with Kyle’s 5.0 and Anthony’s Mustang better known as “The Funeral”.

I’ll have the full series online this weekend, so long as I have the free time.

Car’s & Coffee September 2011

So yeah, here’s a new blog update for those that still read my blog to enjoy. It’s been a little over a month since my last update, which is rather sad, but work, school and life in general have kept me really busy. Now that I’m in a more set routine with work and am already entering my second semester back in to school, the frequency of my updates should be better, or so I hope.

Anyway, the images that I’m sharing today are from the September Car’s & Coffee gathering here in San Antonio. The turnout was a lot better, at least overall vehicle attendance wise, but by the time Sarah and I pulled up, a lot of people were leaving or were soon to be leaving. We still managed to stay for a good 45 minutes or so and I took some more detail shots as well as a few whole car images. As I’ve stated before, taking pictures at a meet and expecting to get great full car shots is rather impossible, so these are just random “snap-shots” like last time. A side note, because of the simple nature of the pictures, I decided to go a little crazy on the post processing work, in attempts to make them a little more tolerable as far as car meet documentation goes.

Car’s & Coffee July 2011

The last Saturday of every month there is a car meet in San Antonio known as Car’s & Coffee. I’ve tried to make it to this meet for a little over 2 years now, but every time that I had planned on going something came up that prevented me from doing so. However, last Saturday Sarah and finally I had the opportunity to go.

The weather was rather gloomy and there was a chance of rain in the forecast, but I didn’t let that sway our decision to go. The meet is held less than 2 minutes away, so there was no chance we were going to miss it.

The turn out was a little less than stellar, but the meet was certainly still enjoyable. There was a good mix of American Muscle, German Engineering, Italian Soul and some Imports.

I didn’t take a lot of pictures, as I spent most of my time looking over the cars. I’m also not a fan of car meet photos, as there is always someone, or something, that gets in the way. So, for the most part, I took a lot of detail photographs.
